Pinon Grand Canyon by Gustave Baumann

This print has been in my family for a long time. I'm almost certain my grandmother, who lived in L.A. in the early 1900's, bought this piece at an art show where Gustave Baumann had set up. I need to research a bit more to find out for sure.

This is number 48 of 125 he originally made. It has been re-framed with museum glass and had the acids neutralized in the paper as well as cleaned. The border is hand wrapped with linen.

This image of a gnarly pinon tree used to scare the crap out of me as a kid. I couldn't make out the shapes and all the asthma medication didn't help my mind from thinking it was a monster with one eye jumping of of the frame to get me. (more on the ghost stories later)
